CiS Internships for High School Students 

The Careers in Science Intern Program (CiS) is a multi-year, year-round work-based youth development program for young people from groups typically under-represented in the sciences.

The Experience

Interns will work at our amazing new facility in Golden Gate Park (with the best view in the building!), and occasionally attend off-site events and field trips. Primary activities include:

  • Learning about science at trainings, lectures, workshops, and conferences
  • Teaching science to the Academy's audiences
  • Conducting sciencific work with Academy scientists and in field studies
  • Having fun while working with people from diverse backgrounds

Eligibility

In order to be eligible for the Careers in Science program, you must be:

  • Currently in 9th or 10th grade and enrolled in an accredited school full-time
  • Able to maintain a 2.0 GPA to remain in the program
  • Able to obtain a valid work permit
  • Able to attend Monday afternoon training sessions (4-6:30 pm)
  • Committed to work at least 6 hours at the Academy per week year-round, including weekends
  • Able to reach the Academy in Golden Gate Park by 4 p.m. during the school year
  • Available to attend new intern training June 16-20, 2008
